I'm gonna break it down in to sections. The pics will not be of High Quality cause my PC is ancient now.. (but it was so new 3-4 years ago playing WoW) <(Article Subject to be updated)>
I was lvl 18 (9 off the beta lvl cap) by sunday. Wish I can post my playtime but I don't know if they had any like other games.
Character
The making of your character for an MMO is the best I experienced to this date. There's the
basics like skin/hair color and tattoos but then their's the advance where you can just make your character weird w/ giant head to just plan evil/awesome looking, add a height adjustment to make you a giant or a dwarf like......or maybe an Ant.-The Look and Fell
Ah, the look and fell.
It looks like a totally unique world and the fell is like WoW (yup, nothing wrong w/ that) and FFXI. The environment is just grand from what I witness thus far. It just make you want to enjoy the scenery and game more.Gameplay
This almost needs it's own sub section, maybe. The Gameplay for me is great, could be better but it's all good. (DO Keep in Mind that I only played as a Templar - A Tanking Class) The Fight Mechanics are good, it's like wow when you start but you are playing a character that ultimately gonna branch into 2 classes that you will have to decide on. None of the "are you a healer spec", "are you a tank" stuff.
When you level, your abilities that you have level as well but like every 3 or 4 lvls you can buy new abilities or you can buy them in advance which is cool. I wasn't able to do realm PvPvE (ya, their 3 factions) cause I wasn't high enough so can't tell you anything on it.
Flight in Aion a 1st felt like I was handcuff to a pole but then again, I was still in the noob like area. However, Flight is cool when you get use to it and you never too safe when you can get killed from above or your flight time is about to expire while 100 ft in the air. Gliding is more common to be use at the start (assuming due to lvl cap) since it can be use where you can't actually fly and it can get you to your destination faster but think of it like this, Knuckles can only glide down. Don't expect to stick to walls tho lol.
Their a chain ability system in the game so it makes it easy to string combos of devastating moves after another. It's easy to see if you can activate it cause after you use the opening move, you get flashing icons on the right side of your character and u can just click or hit the hot-key. Their auto set but nothing is stoping you from making a marco.
Experienced is well, there's plenty of exp. You can get it from jsut about everything. Quest,mob kill even if it's not yours, you can I believe STEAL some of that person XP from that mob or ninja the mob loot by doing the most damage, Gathering, making stuff from your craft, and player kill. And to think the 1.5 patch that's coming w/ the game starts gonna increased it by up to 30%.
Sorry, not much on crafting since I only play w/ it on the final hour of beta but it seems you can become all the crafting maker and all but I think it's like that for beta only.
Music
The Music man.... The Music is mostly great. It got that nice fell to it when you not in battle that suites the area/land/zone but then it goes FFXI on us when you go into battle. From Rocking to Foreigner like Drum sounds, it gonna make you fell like it's a big fight. Oh how I miss a feature like this. You gonna enjoy it.
Some things they could/should add
Let's be clear. Their will not be no Add-Ons so none of that "OMG Look at my ePeen DPS on this meter" shit and stuff so w/ that said, let's began the small list.
- An Auto Loot/ Loot All feature - Why this feature is not in this game suprises me. I like to just pick up and go with in 2 secs of killing the mob.
- Better Scrolling Combat Text - C'mon..... You know you want the legendary addon to be implemented to all MMO games now. Don't Deny it..
- Fix The Shitty AH - My god how shitty it is. It's the #1 Worst thing I found in the game. Just LOOK AT IT and compare it to THIS and see can you tell what's wrong w/ it!
Some Surprises I didn't Expected
Channels... They Got Channels so let me explained. These channels act like a mini world so like say if you trying to complete this quest but there's like 20 other ppl doing the same thing, you can just switch channels to where they may be only 1-5 ppl. There's 10 channels total so that's plenty but here's how you change. If a group member is on a different channel, just right click on their icon and select join or follow (I forgot what) him/her. The other way is from your menu next from your toolbar area. Menu -> Support -> Change Channels. However, this is apparently in effect till lvl 20 so said some ppl on the forumz and it don't work in city (why should it) so take advantage of it when it's there.
This caught me by surprise. A marco system like FFXI is also in the game, just different. I always like the uniqueness of it but I can't tell you everything about it unfortunately nor I have play around w/ it but I can say this.
You can set a Pre action to happened at the time you want it so if for say you want to use Shining Blade then wait 3 secs to use Shield Bash then 6 secs later it does Soul Stab and then say in Normal chat "Chain X Completed, Chain Y Incomming". All you would need to do is set up that marco and press 1 button and it will do just that. now all it needs is a tune that tells your group/alliance to warn ya.. Or Maybe it does?!?!?! o_O--------------------- (@^_^)@ Kirby Punch----------------------
I am undecided if I will play in the final 2 betas cause I don't want to be burned out lvling all over again every 2 weeks. If Pre-mades are handed out so everyone can experienced the Abyss then I'm game. Who knows.. I'm Epicenter in-game if you see me.
So that's basically it. Will I play this on launch? Maybe but it depends so hear me out. I like to play this w/ friends, if they not playing, most likely I won't either. I always played w/ someone ever since my 1st MMO "Phantasy Star Online ep 1 and 2 for Gamecube" then to FFVI, WoW, and WAR tho I kinda went ultra overboard max lvling w/ in 7 days of it being out and not parting it up w/ then till later (sorry ><). I want to enjoy it more w/ them, I may be higher lvl but not enough to just obliterate them and it's bad for the health.
Another reason is my PC is ancient like I said earlier. (See My DxDiag HERE) I lag badly when I have to go into populated areas and especially in the city. I'll be reliving what was a problem for me in WAR, a front line melee class becoming worthless when the masses comes.
So yea, I dig the game but I don't know if I should go forward or stop is the true question. I do recommended you giving the beta a look see, just pre-order it for 5$ and get a beta key and u r good 2 go. Please do tell me what you think and such.
